Farallon Islands

A winter season spent on the remote Southeast Farallon Island (SEFI) with Point Blue Conservation Science. Part of a chain of islands 30 miles off the shore of San Fransisco, SEFI is part of the Farallon Islands National Wildlife Refuge. Winter is breeding season for elephant seals, and we spent our days tracking the colony as over 100 cows hauled out and gave birth. The islands are full of wildlife that we monitored, from passerines to shorebirds, harbor seals, northern fur seals, cetaceans, salamanders, crickets, common murre, gray whales, humpback whales…the list goes on.

These rocks jutting out of the ocean are truly a magical and historical place. And as you can see.. I brought many rolls of film with me.
