Sweet North Carolina
Two months feelin’ like two years. An eternal fall of changing leaves and campfires.
Cherokee National Forest, Smokey Mountain National Park, Pisgah National Forest, Nantahala National Forest, Asheville, all my home as 2020 came to a close. I got to explore the lands and forests some of my ancestors are from.
While I was here I worked on projects doing invasive species removal, Hemlock woolly adelgid treatment, archaeological surveys, and native tree planting through an Americorps term with American Conservation Experience.
Things I will never forget:
the beauty the first time I drove through the mountains as the leaves were changing colors
late night roller skating rink trips
early morning sky of stars before work
trying every sour at the Whale
finding a community of beautiful people brought together for fleeting moments
